HI I’M JEN,

Ambitious. Leader. DRIVEN.

These were titles I would have attached to my identity not so long ago. I was always on the go. Leading and coaching high-performing teams. Building some of the biggest brands in the UK. Then I became a first-time mum, and I hit a wall. I didn’t actually know what I wanted anymore.

Thanks to my daughters I was able to reimagine and redesign my career in a way that was purposeful, fulfilling and truly reflective of who I am.

Working so hard.  A constant blur of busy-ness.  At work and home.  Making BIG decisions, leading big initiatives and making amazing progress.  But you find yourself wondering…

Is it not supposed to feel…different?  Better?  On paper, life is great.  You’ve achieved most of the things you set out to do professionally.  You’re successful, ambitious, high-achieving.

 On the inside though, you’re feeling overwhelmed, a lot of pressure, second guessing yourself and feeling more like you’re just about surviving than thriving.

I know, because that was me.

I spent 20 years building a highly successful career in strategic brand marketing for leading brands & industry-disruptors, the type of organisations that move fast and thrive off pressure. Organisations like: Cadbury, Philadelphia, Heinz and Radox.  The best part of those 20 years was having the privilege to lead, mentor and coach high-performing teams.

 If there is one thing I’ve learnt across the course of my career it’s that being a great leader is not only about leading others, it’s about self-leadership, compassion and creating safe spaces for others to thrive. It’s about leading by example.

 Which means as a leader you have two responsibilities:

  • Learn how to thrive personally so that you feel confident in your capability to inspire others and enjoy both work and life outside it

  • Encourage environments and cultures that give others the opportunity to thrive and grow, too

The future of leadership is people-first leadership.

It’s not enough anymore to offer casual Fridays and an annual review and hope that that’s enough to keep your best performers happy and build a culture that people actually want to be a part of. More and more people are leaving jobs that, on paper, should give them everything a person is supposed to want.

And, it’s got nothing to do with money. According to a recent study by LinkedIn, 94% of people said they’d stay longer at a company if it simply invested in helping them become better. It’s with that in mind that I create every single one of my group workshops, trainings and keynotes.
